5 Generations

of Coopers, Crafting with Passion.

For five generations, our family has continued a tradition of creation and innovation in the service of wine and spirits. Through our entrepreneurial journeys and various businesses, we’ve invested in forests, large containers, barrels, and have pioneered the use of wood for oenology, always guided by strong values of respect for people and the environment.

Today, as always in our family, every new generation brings a new business, a new commitment.

This is why we are proud to introduce AMÉDÉE. This name, that of my great-grandfather, is probably the one I heard the most growing up. From a young age, my grandfather Robert taught me the trade. I wasn’t always the easiest student, and he would often tell me how his father, Amédée, had passed down his knowledge to him.

"AMÉDÉE is much more than a company; it is the continuation of a family passion and a reflection of our commitment to excellence and tradition. We invite you to join us on this journey rich in history and values."

Stéphane

1890
Fédime

the first known cooper in our family, traveled to markets to repair barrels, passing down his craftsmanship that has endured for five generations.

1914
Amédéé

He was an adventurer, and a “Master Cooper” who went from wine proprieties and Chateaux to build and maintain barrels on site. Proprietors sought him out to select the wood in the forest all the way to building a barrel with hand tools designing customized barrel regimes.

1947
Robert

He founded the «Tonnellerie~Radoux» in 1947. He was deeply involved in teaching, with a large following of cooper apprentices.

1997
Christian

Inspired by his father, he became a «Compagnon du Devoir» (Master cooper organization dating from the Middle Ages). Using this broad experience,

He created a cooperage alongside his father’s and eventually merged the two. He significantly expanded "Tonnellerie Radoux" both in France and internationally. Sharing his father's passion for teaching, he served as a member of the "Meilleur Ouvrier de France" committee for coopers. In 1997, after receiving the "Légion d’Honneur" medal, he decided to step away from "Tonnellerie Radoux" while retaining a small shareholder interest for many years.

2004
Stéphane

Building his first barrel at the age of 8, under the guidance of his grandfather, he mastered his craft by following his father around the globe.

Working with winemakers in Napa Valley, his passion for understanding every aspect of the oak-aging process led him to co-develop the Radoux-Ferrière wine.

2013

All these experiences and memories converged to create Amédée®. This milestone not only represents a key moment in a journey but also the beginning of new adventures focused on innovation, ecology, and an unwavering passion for quality.

Through Amédée, Stéphane embraces the future of winemaking, with a commitment to sustainable practices and a drive for pioneering excellence.
